SARA MADANI: RM100 shopping credit, twice in 2027
Malaysians aged 18 and above who are not on STR get RM100 in SARA MADANI credit twice in 2027: once before Aidilfitri and once before the 70th Merdeka celebration. That is RM200 for the year, for up to 13 million people including the M40.
This is shopping credit for essentials, not cash. It can be spent at about 15,000 partner shops, including 6,800 small grocery shops and co-ops. The government wants 10,000 small shops on board by the end of 2026.
New for 2027: SARA can also be used for wet and fresh goods at 216 FAMA farmers' markets and tamu.
STR recipients are on a different track. They get SARA of up to RM150 a month, or up to RM1,800 a year, and do not get the RM100 twice.
Not announced yet: the exact payment dates, whether you need to apply, and when the credit expires. Be careful with links that ask you to register or check eligibility. Wait for the official announcement.
